WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) –

Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC 7th District) says the United States must step up the fight against terrorism in the wake of the deadly bombing at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

“I’m afraid that this is a pattern of significant things to come that are going to be very tragic,” Rouzer said Wednesday. “We need to take this war on terrorism, on radical Islam, very seriously. We need to state what it is. We need to have a comprehensive plan in place, and that’s more than just sending a few jets here and there just to help a few folks out overseas.”

Rouzer also criticized Secretary of State John Kerry, who suggested that the attack could be the work of a group or organization that is desperate and knows it is losing.

“It was reported that the devices that they used were more technologically advanced than they have ever been,” Rouzer said in response when asked about Kerry’s assessment. “That doesn’t sound to me like they are on the run in any way. It sounds to me like they are gaining strength and gaining momentum.”
